Chapter one. Between seasons

On a yacht, who you know is everything.

Every spring, crew walk the docks of Antibes, Palma and Fort Lauderdale looking for their next boat.

A captain alone at the chart table late at night, phone to his ear, a notepad of names under the lamp

The challenge

Trust lived in phone calls and favours.

Crew live and work in close quarters for months at a time. A captain wants to know how you behave at three in the morning in a storm, not what your CV says.

That knowledge sat in group chats and word of mouth. Good crew without the right contacts were invisible, and crew had no way to tell which recruiters or boats to avoid. If reputation could be recorded fairly here, it could be recorded in any industry.

Chapter two. Life on board

A community first. The jobs come out of it.

U-Crew is where crew talk, share news and look out for each other, between guests and between boats.

Chapter three. The work

Every detail is noticed. Now it is on record.

        Chapter four. Night watch

Trust is built in the quiet hours.

The colleagues who stood watch with you are the ones who can vouch for you. U-Crew asks them.

        The results

Grown by word of mouth alone.

Not a penny spent on ads. Crew told crew, and the crew they told told more.
